Passivhaus is a tried and tested solution that provides a range of proven approaches to deliver net-zero-ready new, and existing buildings. Passivhaus buildings provide a high level of occupant comfort using very little energy for heating and cooling, and adopts a whole-building approach with clear, measured targets, focused on high quality construction, certified through an exacting quality assurance process.
Our project in Micheldever for Winchester City Council recently received its Passivhaus Plus certification, achieving an air tightness test result of 0.6(m³/hr/m² @ 50 pascals) enroute. Product considerations and specification are a major consideration, and this scheme comprised materials and components that were chosen with approved Passivhaus certificates for performance. Triple glazed windows and external doors with extra seals were supplied by the Green Store.
The southern facing windows were fitted with shutters to help eliminate solar gain, and solar PV installed on the roof feeding back to each flat which in turn is provided with its own EV charge point.
